July Classes

You can now sign up for July classes by calling the store at 414.482.7373 or emailing drawstringstudio[at]gmailDOTcom with your contact info and we will contact you for the class fee. All class fees are due in advance and non-refundable.

All classes are limited to 4 participants unless otherwise noted.

How to Choose Colors for Your Projects

Tuesday July 5 7:00-8:00pm

Instructor: Danielle Lussier

Description: Do you always have a difficult time trying to pick out coordinating fabrics for quilts and other projects. I'll discuss the common ways to pick fabrics and assist you with picking fabrics for your own projects.

Fee: $10-This class is open to 8 participants.

Quilting Block Basics

Mondays July 12, 19 7:00-9:30pm

Instructor: Elaine Wong Haselhuhn

Description: You will leave this two day class knowing how to create three different types of quilting blocks. Basket weave/rail fence, autumn hints, cups and saucers

Class participants must have working knowledge of their machines-one machine is avail for rental from the store for $10

Fee: $50 + supplies

Hostess Apron with Pocket

Thursday July 14 6:45-9:00pm

Instructor: Danielle Lussier

Description: You will leave this one day class with a finished product and a sense of accomplishment. This half apron is perfect for working on your sewing skills and learning a new project.

Class participants must have working knowledge of their machines-one machine is avail for rental from the store for $10

Fee: $15 + supplies

Baby Sling

Sunday July 17 1:00-3:00pm

Instructor: Sarah Rachelle

Description: You will leave this class with finished baby sling ready to use. Perfect project for beginners. Ring Sling Baby Sling.

A Few Things I've Been Working On

I kept forgetting to bring my camera to the store all this week, but FINALLY forced myself to remember today. I've been working on these two project this week and am just waiting for my binding to come in to get them finished up(I don't make my own binding-seems too time consuming and difficult for me).

Anyways, this first project is a little quilt pattern that I found in a mag a couple of months ago. I have since lost the mag/can't figure out which mag the pattern is in, but the great thing about this pattern is that it's SO easy. I'm really excited to see how this one turns out after being washed. The edges of the circles have been purposely left undone so that the fabric frays a bit when washed. On the back I chose a simple black and cream circle pattern to round out the design concept. I think this one is going to be the piece I donate for the Gracie's Ride Auction.

The second project is something I came up with to showcase a few fabrics in the store. We just got in the floral print and usually I'm not a floral fan, but I thought if I coupled it with the steel and ivory fabrics, it would give it a more modern feel. I love how this one turned out-it's not something I would normally do for myself and I think that's part of the reason I love it. On the back I chose the Cloud 9 Organic sandpiper print.
