Another Talented Lady

I love that I get the opportunity to meet so many talented people through my store, both online and in person. Susie at SusieCues has ordered fabric through my store and I jumped at the opportunity to have her create some bedding for a store display....love how it turned out...sorry for the picture quality I was too excited to wait! Can't wait to get the display up at the shop.

Newbies!

My Sherbet Pips Charm packs came today...such a fun line...and will be in the store tomorrow
Also should have the Chalk Cloth here by the end of the week...I'm really excited about the possibilities of this...I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of experimenting with it.
I'm also deciding which prints I want to order from Premier Prints-they are heavier weight cotton fabrics that would be great for purses, bags, diaper bags, chairs etc....I just can't decide what to order-that's my project for tomorrow.

Some things just look cuter on the hanger

Have you ever had to tell yourself that before? Well I definitely did yesterday...I was so excited because I made this little dress for P and couldn't wait to take it home after work and try it on her.....well not so cute on which was a huge bummer! I honestly don't even want to spend the time fixing it-aurghhhh the dress needs to be shorter and the sleeves less puffy and I think it could look atleast 'decent' then. I took a pic of my little girl in it but as I type this I can't bring myself to post it.
But in happier sewing news I made these modern but really cute burp cloths for a baby shower I'm going to tomorrow-all I know is that the room is purple and there are butterflies....hope she likes them-I love how they turned out and might make some more to have lying around our house.
Anyone sewing anything fun this weekend?

Finished Flower

Yeah! So I actually finished a project without starting another one...well that's a lie, but I did finish this project. I think it turned out pretty cute for an impromptu project....I used a fusible interfacing on the leaves to give them a little stability and then just hand sewed them as I liked and then added a button for some detail....pretty simple!

When the idea changes

So I love when you start with one idea and then along the way it completely changes into something else and it turns out great. I started what I planned on being a pillow with leaves on the front utilizing the City Weekend charm pack I had on hand...well the pillow wasn't working out for me so I grabbed an embroidery hoop and decided to turn it into a flower for Phin's room. Here is a pic in progress-I finished it last night but didn't get a chance to take a pic yet-never would have planned to do it this way...but now I think I might want to start embroidery....oh no-don't think I can handle another hobby!

Not Fabric, but had to share

I came across these mobiles while I was blogstalking over at makingitlovely and instantly fell in love with these mobiles

You can find them HERE. I LOVE that they're sustainable and also an added bonuses that they are made in US and packaged by a company that employs people with disabilities!

A modern addition to any child’s room, this mobile is laser-cut from sustainably harvested bamboo plywood, an earth-friendly renewable resource. Due to the nature of the material, pieces may vary slightly in color and grain.

Made in the U.S.A. Packaged by a SF non-profit that employs adults with disabilities.

Just ordered some new fabrics

****Got some of these fabrics in today and wanted to clarify that the colors are green not yellow-sorry about the picture resolution issues I'll take some real life pics to showcase colors)

I just ordered these today (couple of different lines but i think they'll work well together and make great Spring projects) and will also be placing my Monaluna and Daisy Janie orders this next week as well!

I think he likes it

My son loves when I get new boxes of fabric that he can help me open. I usually never take the fabric out of the plastic until I get to the store, but I was going to cut some of this for him anyways...guess he didn't even need it cut. He was telling me that he was going to take a nap here....Incase you can't tell it's the Robots fabric I've been waiting for.
I also received some City Weekend Charm Packs and Fat Eighths of Sugar Pop by Liz Scott

Quick Little Project

It's been a busy day today which has been great, but in-between customers I was able to get this bag sewn for my SIL who came into town to celebrate my son's birthday and got roped into babysitting the kids today :)

I recently fell in love with this fabric and was happy to see that it translated well in this bag-I was afraid it would only be useful for childrens projects, but I think it looks great and modern too. Hope she likes it!

Glad to be back

So who was I kidding...I'm so glad to be back in the store. Don't get me wrong-I LOVE being able to be home with my kids as much as I am, but I also forgot how much I enjoy being at the store and being able to be crafty and talk with my customers. I had some of my regular customers stop in today and it was really refreshing just to sit back and talk with them!

So no I'm not going anywhere...I'm going to figure out the store scheduling and get back to set hours as soon as possible-hopefully within the next week or so.

Also other happy news...we got our signage permit today and should have the new sign happily waving in the the winter wind in a week or two.

Have a great weekend!

Quilting Bee Blocks

These are some of the great blocks I've gotten back from the members of my quilting bee...love them!

Excited to Share the News

I'm excited to share the news that Alyssa from Penguin and Fish is debuting her Safari Sweet Organic line through Clothworks. I carry Alyssa's embroidery kits and they've been really popular here at the store so I love that she has this fabric collection coming out this summer. Here are just a sampling of the fabrics in the collection. Congrats Alyssa!

We weathered the storm

Well our little girl arrived back home on Monday after minor surgery and five days of antibiotics for a staff infection. The four of us are happy to be under one roof again and are looking forward to getting back to some sort of routine. This past week has also lead me to question rather it would be better to focus primarily on an internet based presence in the fabric world_I love having people come in to the store and have met some great people that I don't think I would have been able to meet otherwise and have in turn found some great blogs to read, but having two small children makes life somewhat unpredictable and having set store hours right now if somewhat a challenge-but I am still undecided. I love being a local outlet for fabric lovers like myself and I also love being able to be home with my children and hope to come up with some sort of solution soon.

Also a BIG BIG Happy Birthday to my little man who turned TWO today-I asked him what today was and he said "Happy Birthday!"-gosh it just melts your heart!!!

The store will be open this Friday 11-7, Saturday 11-4 and Sunday 11-4...hope you get a chance to stop in and say hi!

ReBranding

I've had the opportunity to get to work with Scott Starr at Rev Pop Studio here in Bay View. He was awesome to work with-he came up with a perfect concept and was able to get something back to me quickly. I would recommend him to anyone looking for branding for your company -Check out Rev Pops work out here Rev Pop Inc.

So what do you think? I've ordered the signage and am finally getting to change the web, blog, etsy etc....finally calmed down at the hospital to get some work done.

Rain on Monday...Pouring Today

You know the phrase "When it rains , it pours" well that's what's going on right now. My husband had knee surgery on Monday and now I am off to spend the weekend in the hospital with my very very young daughter for an infection she developed on Tuesday. We are getting by with the tremendous help of both of our families.

The store will be closed and I anticipate being able to reopen March 10th-I'm sorry and appreciate your patience.
